Description

50+ antique etched mother of pearl tokens, used as chips for gaming among the wealthy, especially during the early to mid 1800's.  Originally made in China, with detailed Chinese images, these were probably exported to Europe, where a few of them have been personalized with a Latin motto (Durum Patientia Frango).  Others have blank spots for the value though, still unetched.  All are decorated on both sides, and notice that some have reticulated edges - highly detailed.  It's a fascinating collection, including several lucky fish.
