1912 Newspapers: Sinking of the Titanic

  Lot # 064
Listing Image
Description

These are period newspapers from 1912, not reproductions.  They are in fragile condition.

1.  Sunday Courier, Poughkeepsie, NY, April 21, 1912.  "The Titanic Sunk at Sea; 1,635 Lives are Lost" headline, with the Astors and other photos and (interesting!) article below.  This is a partial newspaper.

2.  New York Journal, Tuesday, April 23, 1912, Ninth Edition.  "Bodies...Reported Found / More Victims Recovered" with red ink in the headline.  This paper has been kept inside the Poughkeepsie one above.  It has several pages, but may or may not be the complete edition.

Also... a few mid century clippings that were found with it, unrelated.  This group was from a downsizing home on Venice Island.  Very cool find!
