Antique Crown Devon English Commode Set in Etna Pattern, 9 Pieces

Auction Estimate $125 - $150

Description

An excellent find, a matching set of 9 Fielding Devonware pieces, and very pretty.  A large pitcher, basin/bowl, chamber pot, vanity tray, soap dish, small double-spout pitcher, vase, small lidded vanity box, and brush holder.

Condition:  The cylinder shaped brush holder has a vertical hairline crack and unfortunately someone tried to make it better by putting glue on the outside.  The vase has a crack from the rim and maybe a repair alongside it (see photo).  The tray is heavily crazed, more than the other pieces.  The vanity box lid has a chipped/re-colored corner.  Pieces have normal wear and gold loss (on the chamber pot handle particularly).  Overall it's a beautiful set, amazing to find so many pieces together, and most in good condition.  Pitcher looks very nice.

Marked in various ways on the pieces, including:  Devonware, Fieldings, S.F. & Co., Stoke-on-Trent England (crown logo) Etna. R. No. 578617.  The lidded vanity box isn't marked.

This set has a sticker to note that it was bought in 1999 for $730.00.  What will it bring at auction in 2022?  No reserve!
