Description

Matthaeus Merian (1593-1650).  Riot in the Judengasse, Frankfurt in 1614.  An image of the Fettmilch riots on August 22, 1614, when a mob armed with clubs attacked residents of Jewish Lane.  This is a small artwork, and has a written notation on the back: “Frame made by Max H. Bass, 1916, a British P.O.W. on Isle of Man; Historical Value.”
