Description

An exquisitely preserved 2012 Canada $10 “War of 1812” ¼ ozt gold coin, struck in .9999 fine (24-karat) gold, still in its original sealed blister packaging. Issued by the Royal Canadian Mint to commemorate the bicentennial of the War of 1812, this coin blends bullion value, collectible appeal, and limited mintage rarity.

  • Obverse: Portrait of Queen Elizabeth II with inscriptions ELIZABETH II · CANADA · 10 DOLLARS. Liberty Coin+2Coins Catalog+2

  • Reverse: Heraldic design featuring a British lion and American eagle flanking a shield bearing a maple leaf, with dates 1812-2012 and inscriptions CBS 9999 FINE GOLD ¼ OZ OR PUR. Liberty Coin+3Numista+3Coins Catalog+3

  • Specifications:
     • Weight: ¼ troy ounce (approx. 7.77 g) Coins Catalog+2APMEX+2
     • Diameter: ~20 mm Colonial Acres Coins+1
     • Thickness: ~1.7 mm Colonial Acres Coins
     • Edge: Reeded Numista+1

  • Mintage & Rarity: The coin was struck with a limited mintage of just 2,000 pieces, making it highly scarce among fractional Canadian gold issues. APMEX+1 is currently sold out.

  • Condition & Packaging: It remains in its original blister pack, untouched and well protected — a key factor enhancing its collector premium.

  • Legal Tender / Backing: Though its face value is CAD $10, its intrinsic and collectible value far exceed that nominal amount — the face value is symbolic.

  • Collector Premium / Rarity Premium: Because it is a low-mintage commemorative and still in sealed blister, it commands a significant premium over bullion value. Many dealers currently list it in the $1000 to $1,200 USD range (or higher) depending on demand.
