Description

Antique Farrington’s “Tower Brand Coffee” Wooden Crate Side
G.B. Farrington Co., New York (Late 1800s – Early 1900s)

This is an original coffee crate side panel from the G.B. Farrington Company, a New York–based coffee and grocery importer active around the turn of the 20th century. "Tower Brand Coffee" was one of their packaged blends, distributed to general stores, groceries, and hotels.

Key Features

  • Large stenciled text:
    “Farrington’s Tower Brand Coffee”

  • Manufacturer mark: “The G.B. Farrington Co., New York”

  • Hand-nailed plank construction typical of the late 19th to early 20th century

  • Darkened, aged patina that shows genuine period wear

  • A crate side panel, not a full box—often more decorative for wall display

  • Measures: 24" wide x 11" tall x .5" thick

These types of panels were cut from larger shipping crates, usually 100 lb bulk coffee crates.

PERIOD

🟢 Circa 1890–1915

The typography, stencil style, and maker match other known Farrington Co. labels from the era.

CONDITION

  • Heavy edge wear on both ends, especially upper left

  • Wood splits and plank separation (common on 100+ year-old crate panels)

  • Some fade in the top lettering (“Farrington’s”)

  • Lower text still legible

  • Nail holes present along edges

  • Stable enough for display, with strong antique character

Overall: Fair-to-Good antique condition with great rustic appeal but notable wear.
