Description

This is a wonderful 19th C., Lithograph of the Engraving of the First Carriage the "Aerial".  The Aerial Steam Carriage was a flying machine patented in 1842 by William Henson and John Stringfellow and together formed the Aerial Transit Company to raise capital for its construction.  Unfortunately the Aerial was incapable of sustained flight because it was powered by a heavy steam engine as depicted in the litho. Fabulous colors and graphics.  Modestly framed and matted, perfect for the litho.  The paper backing has some issues.  The overall measurements are: 20x21.
