Description

Chinese export brooch finely carved in natural mother-of-pearl, depicting a sinuous dragon in motion with flowing mane, scaled body, and curled tail. Executed in pierced relief with hand-incised detailing throughout. The dragon retains its original applied red glass eye.

The reverse is fitted with an early wire pin and C-style catch, consistent with Chinese export jewelry of the late Qing to early Republic period, circa 1900–1910.

Measures approximately 2¾ inches in length. Condition is very good, with light surface wear and natural shell inclusions consistent with age. An expressive and highly collectible example of early Chinese carved shell jewelry.
