Description

A charming late 19th-century figural table salt formed as a stylized fish or dolphin with scaled body and sweeping tail handle, the open mouth modeled as a cornucopia bowl. The vessel retains its original removable clear pressed glass liner and is raised on an ornate pierced rococo scroll base.

Executed in cast silver with original gilt wash, the surface displaying warm age patina and light wear consistent with use. The detailed modeling of the scales, fins, and scrolling base reflects the whimsical naturalistic table novelties popular during the Victorian and Edwardian periods.
