Description

This rare and wonderful piece is an Antique, Clear Glass Apothecary, Laboratory Bottle, circa 1880-1920. It is Hand-blown clear glass.  Its form is a Bulbous globular body with a narrow neck.  I believe this to be the original ground glass stopper with a flared collar.  The ground rim and matching stopper indicate it was made for an airtight seal.  Commonly used in Chemical labs, Pharmacies or Apothecaries for storing liquids, reagents or compounds.  As a kid, I remember seeing these in Pharmacies filled with blue water.  There is some internal cloudiness/etching consistent with age and chemical storage.
There are no obvious cracks or fractures that I can find under magnification. The ground stopper and free-blown form, point to pre-machine mass production.  It measures approximately 17.5" tall x 10" wide.  See pictures for measurements.  Great piece that you just don't find anymore especially in this great condition.  This is from a private collector with a reserve price of $100.
