Description

Framed antique black-and-white engraved print depicting scenes related to the Panama Canal, including a central group portrait of engineers, a formal meeting or hearing scene, a canal/harbor view with steamship, and a panoramic landscape scene. The lower caption appears to read “The Panama Canal: Arrival of the Engineers at Colon…” with a side notation indicating it was drawn by W. H. Overend, from the Illustrated London News March 26, 1881.

The print is matted under glass in a dark reddish-brown wood frame with gold-tone inner trim. Visible age toning and discoloration to the paper/mat, with glare and reflections from the glass. A historic 19th-century-style illustrated newspaper engraving, suitable for collectors of Panama Canal, maritime, engineering, or historical prints.
